The Monkey Tribe
At Mad monkey we aren’t your typical martial arts school or Dojo. We encourage cross training in different styles or with different clubs. We wont force you to sign crazy long term binding contracts, we don’t make you pay for belt tests, we don’t pressure you into buying all your gear from us, or make you wear our patches. All we care about is having a small group of chilled individuals to spar, roll and pummel with.
The Fun-damentals
We Focus on the fundamentals and we make the fundamentals fun by training them live in each and ever class. Technically we learn martial arts while we play with resisting non-cooperative training partners. The concept of position posture and pressure being constantly preached to you in each and ever class. Backed with the basic techniques that work regardless if its sport or street, gi or no gi. Once in a while we will indulge in the flashy or a new trend in combat sports to see how it works and how it can be shut down with good basic fundamentals.
Video Study
I feel video study is very important, if you have an instructor that tells you otherwise they are either trying to build a cult following where the fountain of all information is them and their way is the only way, or they are worried that you will become more knowledgeable then them in the area they are supposed to specialize in. Video study doesn’t beat time on the mat play fighting with your buddies, but its a good supplement to boost your performance on the mat.
